The General Council Institute for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions is an international organization affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It was established in 2001 and is headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The General Council represents the official umbrella for the Islamic financial industry worldwide, and aims to support, develop and protect the Islamic financial services industry, and support cooperation among its members.
